Baptism of Infants and Children up to age 6

Sacraments are a visible sign of God’s invisible grace” (St. Augustine).

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation. For infants, the Church recommends that infants are baptized within the first few weeks of birth. Children up to the age of 6 are considered “Infants.”

Since the Lord’s Day is the preeminent day for Baptism, Baptisms can be celebrated either at Mass on Sunday or outside of Mass on either Sunday or Saturday.

New parents are required to participate in Infant Baptism preparation sessions while godparents are welcome to participate but are not required. For English sessions, please contact Fr. Michael 503-285-4539 x510 or mbelinsky@archdpdx.org. For Spanish sessions, please contact Carmen Salvador 503-285-4539 x513 or csalvador@holyredeemerpdx.org.
