HOLY REDEEMER SVDP CONFERENCE
On March 15, in honor of the 150th year of the presence and service of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul within our Archdiocese, Archbishop Sample suggested that all parishes take up a collection for the work of SVDP. Since we take up a collection each month at Holy Redeemer for our food pantry, our parish SVDP conference decided that the monthly “blue bucket” collection taken up on the weekend of March 15 will be sent to the Portland Council Office to assist in their various programs throughout the Archdiocese. Thank you for your generosity in supporting SVDP here and throughout Portland.
As of March 4 SVDP served 30 families with $3,200 in food; received 1,915 lbs of donated food, logged volunteer 41 hours which includes 9 care center visits; provided 25 Kenton Village residents with meals; served 28 people at St. Andre Bessette parish; and fed 300 people at the SVDP/Bethel Lutheran Church Sunday Breakfast. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Do you or someone you know need Emergency Food Assistance? Our SVDP Food Room is open Wednesday and Saturday, 2:30-4:00pm. Anyone in need of emergency food is encouraged to visit us there for assistance; all requests are treated confidentially.
