It is hard to believe that 2019 is about to be history as we ring in the New Year 2020. Each year passes swiftly and each new year ushers in so many changes. Heraclitus got it right when he wrote, “ The only constant in life is change. “
In reflecting on life here at Holy Redeemer parish this past year, we have seen a lot of wonderful changes, especially in the area of new personnel. We welcomed Deirdre McPheeters as our new Principal, Kate Grewell as our new bookkeeper, Meaghan Igloria as our new Director of Religious Education, and Carie Weisenbach-Folz as our new Parish Secretary. We were also blessed to have my brother in Holy Cross, Fr. Michael Belinsky, assigned to our parish.
As we begin the New Year 2020, there are two more personnel changes I wanted to share with you.
Lauren Funk, who served as Director of Development for Holy Redeemer School, and most recently as Director of Parish Development, feels the need to pull back from parish work at this time. She will continue to direct Music and Movement at Holy Redeemer School, but the bulk of her time will be given to being Super Mom to her children, Eloise and Max. Surely we all owe Lauren a great deal of gratitude for her selfless service these past several years.
I am pleased to announce that Dave Crepeau has been hired as the New Director of Institutional Advancement for Holy Redeemer School, effective January 1, 2020. Dave has many years of experience in different facets of parish ministry and comes to us from St. Henry Church in Gresham. We will soon have a bulletin insert from Dave introducing himself. I also plan to have him speak briefly to us at all the Sunday Masses sometime in January.
By way of reminder, Fr. Michael and I wish to invite you to the Chili & Posole Event in the Rectory on Sunday, January 12, from 2-5pm, which in the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, and the official end of the Christmas season. Parish volunteers will provide childcare and hope you can spend a little time relaxing at our home!
Lastly, I have been in touch with Fr. Chris and he’s doing very well. He has been truly touched by the outpouring of love, support and prayers from everyone.
On behalf of Fr. Chris and Fr. Michael, I would like to wish you a grace-filled New Year!
Yours in Christ, Fr. Pat
